Last evening, the Twitter-sphere was abuzz with an interview that all but confirmed Rickie Lambert as the first signing of the summer, (even going as far as saying that his medical went well.) But who else could be wearing the Liverbird upon their chest come the start of next season?
As well as a move for Alexis Sanchez, we reportedly lead the race for Cesc Fabregas, according to multiple sources, such as the Liverpool Echo and Daily Mail. The former Arsenal star has reportedly fallen out of favor at Barcelona, and has been placed on the market for a reported pricetag of 30m pounds.
The same link as above also claims that Sunderland have tabled a 10m pound bid for Fabio Borini. Having joined from Roma in 2012 for 11, this means we would be taking a loss on the Italian of a million pounds, and we might look for a little more money, with Fabio now showing that he can score goals in the Premier League after all.
The Times are reporting that our bid for Adam Lallana has stalled, and we now look to sign Bayern Munich winger Xerdan Shaqiri. We've been linked with Shaqiri in the past, even before he joined Bayern, and once again this past winter.
The Daily Mirror have reported that we're inching closer and closer to signing Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno for 22m. This is after reports that we'd tabled a bid of 16m and Suso. Suso being one of our bright young talents, many fans are prepared to pay a little extra for Moreno and would prefer Suso to stay.
The Daily Star claim that the Reds are set for weekend talks with Bayer Leverkusen over Emre Can. After an earlier report that the main problem was wages, Leverkusen want 10m pounds for the young midfielder, and so negotiations are still ongoing.
Our objective in this window seems to be focused on not just the first XI, but the squad as a whole. We need a left back, so the signing of Moreno would definitely be welcome. Most fans want Fabregas or Shaqiri over Lallana, though there's every chance we could go after all of them, if not just for the options.
