Anfield Road Blocked: Spanish FA Restrict Aspas Deal

Reports in England claim 7.6M Iago Aspas deal has been blocked by Spanish FA.

Early this morning, speculation arose in the English press over Spanish striker Iago Aspas of Celta Vigo's move to Merseyside being blocked by Spanish FA officials, over the fact that our managing director Mr. Ian Ayre, had been speaking to the wrong agent about the player.

This comes after the Reds announced they had agreed a deal for the player "In Principle", and in turn, the player himself has changed his Twitter Biography to (roughly translated) "A Football Player formerly of Celta Vigo, now playing for Liverpool FC"

Liverpool are said to be "Extremely confident" and "relaxed" that a deal can be completed in the coming days. Iago was spotted earlier in the week with club doctor Zaf Iqbal, presumably before a medical at Melwood. Celta Vigo have since announced his departure from the club, which gives us more hope that he may officially sign in the coming days.

Iago would be our 2nd signing of the summer, with the club having announced the pre-contract agreement to sign Kolo Toure on a free transfer when his contract at Manchester City runs out on July 1st.

Other players that have been linked to the club lately are Kyrgiakos Papadopoulos from Schalke in Germany, and Luis Alberto from Sevilla, whose option to be picked up by Barcelona, the club he was on loan to this past season, wasn't picked up. So, it looks like Aspas isn't the only one we're looking after.
