Could a Win Mean Much Less? Liverpool 3, Fulham 1

After a shaky first half, Liverpool put on a clinic on how to create chances.

Well like I said before, this match mattered little in the grand scheme of things. In fact, it meant so little that Fox Soccer appeared to skip about 10 minutes in the first half somewhere before the 27' mark. Perhaps they spread it out somewhere in the middle. Rodgers did manage to get his team motivated though, after he switched out of the dreadful 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 that he was playing in the first half. All I know is it appeared that Wisdom was playing one of three CBs and Carragher was at LB...which was just horribly wrong.

However, the team's second half performance did show they are hungry, even if they weren't ready this year to make the leap to fourth place. There was much to take away from their last away game of the season which gives much hope for next year. Let's just hope that team doesn't include Coates as he looked shaky as ever, like a completely unskilled Skrtel with a bad wig. It did take a bit of luck as Lucas got lucky not to have given away a penalty, but in fairness to him there was no movement of the hand towards the ball. However, the arm is too far from his body in that situation and he was quite lucky. As the old saying goes, it is better to be lucky than good.

With Everton winning today, Liverpool's 7th place finish is cemented. I hope to see a lot more youth for the final match and, of course, Carra.

Some things I noted:

-Sturridge actually looked like a man who can lead a line on his own. A fantasic hattrick that really should have been 5 or 6. He had Hangeland tripping over his own Adam's apple a number of times.

-Wisdom has still been impressive in every game I can remember except for one. No, I can't remember which one, but if I recall it was his third game for the first team. His pass for Sturridge's first was superb. Unlucky to be subbed.

-Couthino was completely absent...until a fantastic pass to Sturridge for the second. After that he came alive dissecting Fulham with the precision of a neurosurgeon.

-Fulham definitely got them better of the deal for Konscisky if they got Kacaniklic out of it.

-Shelvey is just on his own planet out there. He is just chasing the ball or butterflies rather than playing with his teammates. Not a good showing overall which will surely see him shipped out this summer.

-Do we really want Reina to leave? His distribution wasn't up to his usual standards, but it was a one off game I think. He really appears to have found his form again.

-That run from Johnson in the 57' where he dribbled through four defenders is what we have become accustom to. Apparently it took a yellow to get him angry enough to play like he doesn't care.

-I got my wish, Riise got a fantastic reception from the Kop and man did he kill that free kick. Well done to Reina to hang on to it.
