Tuesday News and Links: International Matches and Merseyside Derby

Alex Livesey

Hey all, it's been a rather quiet week around these parts due to another international break. Think of this as the slumber before a strenuous marathon; Liverpool's schedule is about to get wild as we move into the middle part of the season. The Merseyside derby is right around the corner, and in the time leading up to the big match there will be plenty of both meaningful and meaningless international games to go around. Now to the news.

-There are four World Cup Qualifiers today. Here's the schedule.

-Luis Suarez will fly to England in owner John Henry's private jet so he can make the match against Everton. I'm annoyed that Suarez will be jet lagged for one of the most important games of the season, but at least we have such a committed owner.

-Daniel Agger, who was quoted a few weeks ago as being unhappy, now says that he wants to stay at Liverpool and fight for his starting job.

-Aly Cissokho says he might want to stay long term at Liverpool. I guess he's the kind of guy who invites himself to parties.

-There's are some transfer rumors floating about, but none that seem all that definitive. January is creeping up, and Rodgers will likely find it tough to replicate the success he found in the last midseason window.
