In news that contains all the surprise of finding Two And A Half Men not funny, Tom Werner has replaced Martin Broughton as Chairman of Liverpool. Though we were all suspicious of Broughton when he was installed, he will at least be known as the man who got Statler and Waldorf out of the owner's box, and for that we'll always be grateful.
Does Tom Werner know fuck all about football? I have no idea, really. What I do know is that these guys are smart enough to know what they don't know, and smart enough to hire the people who do know. As I've said, these are the same guys who had the stones to hire a 28-year old as a GM at the Red Sox and had all of baseball laughing at them. Two World Series titles later, no one's laughing much. So I highly doubt these guys do much meddling.
-Ryan Babel had a curious note on his twitter feed today where he claimed that Rafa Benitez wouldn't let him train overtime. I have no idea what this means, or if it's true, or where to even begin. But Rafa clearly didn't know how to develop Babel, or get through to him, because his game has gone from 0 to 0 in five years, if not backwards. Whatever, not much in improving under Hodgson.
