Nothing confirmed yet, but if current interpretations of Banton's twitter account are to be believed, and it is his account, it sounds as though former Liverpool Academy player Jason Banton has been cut by the Seattle Sounders several weeks in to their training camp as they prepare to head to Florida for their next phase of preparing for the CCL quarter-finals.
The Sounders, my local MLS team (in fact, I just purchased tickets for their home opener and home leg of the CCL quarters), drafted Banton just a month ago before training opened. While Banton flamed out in England after being cut by Liverpool and Leicester City, it seemed like he had a chance in Seattle. While he certainly wouldn't have been a starter this year, he looked to be in competition to provide depth on the wings and have a chance to grow in to a larger role.
It's a shame that he didn't make the cut here. I've had a fondness for Banton for awhile now, and was thrilled at the chance to see him play here locally. I do think his skillset could work in MLS with some seasoning, and I hope he catches on somewhere and succeeds (just not with LA or one of the other Cascadia teams).
