Why I'll Never Walk Alone

I am exceptionally new to this site, and being from Louisville, Kentucky, any time I have the ability to find new and interesting material, takes, and information on my favorite soccer (henceforth known as football as it should be) team, I take the opportunity with vigor. (Whew, what a sentence)

I was first introduced to this wonderful club from a family friend. I was maybe 11 or 12. I had been playing club soccer for some time, watched world cups, and loved (besides my American team) coincidentally the English team. My friend told me about a player to watch at Euro 2000. His name was Steven Gerrard. He played the game like it should be played. He controlled the midfield, was athletic, handled the ball with a deft touch, and was capable of seizing the moment. He was everything I would dream of being as a football player. I was talking with my friend who was a little older about Gerrard, when he showed me a video of Liverpool's 2000 team. As an 11 year old it was fascinating. The passion for football was unheard of. The scarves, the tradition, the history. I became enamored with Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, and Robbie Fowler.

I had an opportunity to go see a game in England with my same friend 5 years later, but unfortunately it coincided with Winter Finals. I could not go. I was crushed. Instead he brought back the official team kit. I still have it. Carlsberg is emblazoned on the chest, the Liverpool crest is sewn onto the left shoulder. I spent hours in high school drawing the crest, and loved each incarnation of it. I have yet to go to Anfield, to the Kop, or to England. It's on my life long to do list. I desperately want to hear the roar of the crowd as Suarez drills a goal into the upper 90.

Sorry for the length, I just figured I would give some of you all notice of why I will never walk alone, how I am not a bandwagon fan (ha), and how I love this club
