Torres To Chelsea Rumors Heat Up Again

Just when Liverpool seemed content to shut down the transfer request of Fernando Torres, the rumors seem to have new life again today. The BBC is reporting that Liverpool will accept an offer worth at least £50M:

Liverpool are likely to sell striker Fernando Torres before the transfer window closes on Monday if they can agree a £50m package with Chelsea. The Reds could be open to a deal of £40m in cash plus Blues forward Nicolas Anelka, according to an Anfield source.

To add fuel to the fire, here are a select few tweets that raise some eyebrows.

@thisisanfield:

Sky Sports reporting that Nicolas Anelka is not keen to move back to Liverpool. So the only way Torres would leave would be for £50m.

@oconnellhugh:

The Times website says #Torres lawyer flying into London to handle Chelsea contract #CFC #LFC

@Rednigerian:

@thisisanfield A couple ITK's on RAWK are saying Torres left Kenny's office in tears.

Normally I'm not big at jumping into the rumor mill about "potential fires", but there seems to be an awful lot of smoke with this one. Hard to tell what to think, and if the rumors are true we had better hope that Suarez is at least decent at playing up top in the Premier League to replace Torres. It would also be nice if the club would get a deal going with Blackpool over Charlie Adam so we don't lose two players and only bring in one on an already depleted squad.
